That the Parliament commends those who competed in the World Pipe Band Championships 2023, and congratulates the Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band on its win at the event; highlights the effort and dedication of all pipe bands that participated in the event in Glasgow on 18-19 August 2023; appreciates that the Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band, from West Lothian, competed against more than 180 bands from across the globe to win the title of World Pipe Band Champions; notes that this is the first time that the band has won the title; considers that the achievements of local music groups in Lothian and across Scotland should be recognised; further considers that, for some, the opportunity to learn instruments in school has additional barriers; believes that, with further investment, future talent in this sector could be encouraged; congratulates all members of Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band on their achievement, and wishes them the best of luck for the championship in 2024.
