That the Parliament applauds St Patrick’s Church, Shieldmuir, Motherwell, on its "An Evening of Celebration and Inspiration Through Music", marking the feast day of Saint John Paul II and the 40th anniversary of his visit to Scotland; understands that the evening's programme was a local celebration, reflecting Pope John Paul II’s belief in young people and their important role within the Church and throughout the world; further understands that the evening raised £2,067 for St Andrew’s Hospice, a local hospice, which provides free compassionate care and support to people of all ages, who are affected by a life threatening or terminal illness; notes that the evening showcased the musical talents of many local young people, including Monica McGhee and Marie McLaughlin, both professional sopranos, St Thomas’ Primary School Choir and their head teacher Mrs Preston, Lauren Hetherton and Anthony McKenna, instrumentalist students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Melissa McCardie, a student at St Aidan's Wishaw and Patrick Doyle, a former Our Lady's High School student; further notes that the evening was accompanied by pianists, Mrs Eachen, principal teacher of music at St Aidan’s High School Wishaw, and Geoffrey Tanti, teacher at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, renowned accompanist and Italian repertoire coach and examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and acknowledged the life of Sir Alexander Gibson, Conductor Laureate; thanks everyone who made the evening possible and, in particular, Father Krzysztof for his unwavering commitment to the parish.
