As an amendment to motion S5M-09221 in the name of Murdo Fraser (Barclay Review and ALEOs), insert at end “; notes that ALEOs, along with independent schools that are charities, benefit from reduced or zero rates bills, while council schools do not qualify and generally will pay rates; supports the review recommendation that ‘this is unfair and that inequality should end by removing eligibility for charity relief from all independent schools’, and calls on the Scottish Government to support this recommendation.”
