To ask the Scottish Government whether any shipyard stated that it could deliver a vessel before the May 2027 date stated by the Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy during his ministerial statement on Ferguson Marine on 16 May 2023.
Answer
Specific information of this nature would be regarded as commercially sensitive and therefore not appropriate for disclosure. However, it should be noted that the timetable associated with the delivery of an alternative vessel would include the time taken to undertake a procurement exercise as well as the time taken to build the vessel itself.

Ministers continue to have regular dialogue with Trade Unions. Trade Union Representatives have welcomed the Written Authority as they acknowledge the Port Glasgow yard’s importance to the local community.

To ask the Scottish Government which shipyards or maritime experts were consulted as part of the process to determine that May 2027, as stated by the Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy during his ministerial statement on Ferguson Marine on 16 May 2023, was the earliest delivery date for a new vessel, if vessel 802 had to be retendered.
