Item 3 is consideration of a negative instrument. Do members have any comments to make?

My comment is simply to highlight how important the negative instrument is in improving the clarity of the present regulations. I want it to be recorded that I welcome it on that basis.

Is the committee agreed that it does not wish to make any recommendation on the instrument?

Members indicated agreement.

At its next meeting, on 5 December 2017, the committee will take evidence from the Cabinet Secretary for the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform and the Minister for Transport and the Islands, as part of its inquiry into air quality in Scotland.

As agreed earlier, we will now move into private session. I ask that the public gallery be cleared, as the public part of the meeting is closed.
