We are running a little over time, but Dawn, did you have a final question to put to one or two witnesses?

Welcome back. We resume our round-table session on the rural support plan. We have about an hour and 10 minutes left. In order to get through as much evidence as we can, I ask members and witnesses to be concise.
We will stay with the theme that we were discussing before the break. Finlay Carson has a brief supplementary question.

That is why we have started this inquiry early, in the first weeks after summer recess of this parliamentary session.
I will bring in Michael Halliday.

I would like to mention a point that was raised with us in a written submission from the Landworkers Alliance, which made the case for a basic income for farmers that would be set at a very low hectarage level. The alliance was frustrated at its inability to have that concept included in the wider discussion around capping and front loading.
I am interested in hearing our witnesses’ thoughts on that. Again, it is an issue that brings in active farming, because it gives rise to the question whether someone would have to be an active farmer to receive a basic income. Do people have any views on that specific proposal from the Landworkers Alliance?

We will move to another question, from Emma Roddick.
