Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Dave Thompson)

I welcome members of the committee and members of the public—we have a huge audience in the public gallery again, I see, which is always nice—to the third meeting in 2011 of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee. I remind everyone to turn off their phones, BlackBerrys and so on before we start the meeting so that they do not interrupt the business.

Agenda item 1 is to ask whether we will take in private items 5, 6, 7 and 8. Items 5 and 6 concern the committee’s forward work programme and working practices. Item 7 concerns possible changes to the standing orders that have not been considered by the committee before. Item 8 is an approach paper for the committee’s proposed inquiry into parliamentary reform. Do members agree?

Members indicated agreement.
