During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Our second item of business is to choose a convener. The Parliament has agreed that only members of the Scottish National Party are eligible for nomination as convener of the committee. I am pleased to announce that Joan McAlpine is the Scottish National Party’s nominee for the post.

Joan McAlpine was chosen as convener.

I congratulate Joan McAlpine on her appointment and I am happy to hand over to her the formal responsibilities of convening the committee.
