Transvaginal Mesh Removal (Cost Reimbursement) Scotland Bill – Draft Reimbursement Scheme

Letter from Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care - Transvaginal Mesh Removal (Cost Reimbursement) Scotland Bill – Draft Reimbursement Scheme, 10 December 2021

Dear Convener

Following the commitment made in my response to the Stage 1 report, I am pleased to enclose a draft of the transvaginal mesh removal reimbursement scheme (“the scheme”) for your information.

Work will continue to refine the scheme as the Bill progresses through Parliament, but I hope that this draft will assist the Committee in understanding how it will operate in practice and give some reassurance about the degree of flexibility which it affords to the administrators who will be determining applications.

The intention is to make, lay and publish the scheme almost immediately after sections 1 and 2 of the Act come into force with the expectation that applications will be able to be submitted quickly after that.

As the scheme is an administrative one it will be possible, should the need arise, to make amendments to the scheme quickly.

I hope that the Committee finds sight of the draft scheme to be informative and helpful in their continued consideration of the Bill.
