Scottish Government Response to the Coronavirus (Discretionary Compensation for Self-Isolation) (Scotland) Bill Stage 1 Report

Letter from Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for COVID Recovery, Scottish Government to the Convener, 18 January 2022

Dear Siobhian

Coronavirus (Discretionary Compensation for Self-Isolation) (Scotland) Bill – Stage 1 Report
Further to my appearance before the Committee on 16 December 2021, I enclose my response to the Committee’s Stage 1 Report published on 13 January.

I am grateful to the Committee for its scrutiny of the Bill and for the detailed conclusions and recommendations contained in the Stage 1 Report. I believe that the Bill will enable us to protect Health Boards from significant financial and administrative burdens, whilst ensuring there is sufficient Parliamentary scrutiny over any further extension of the modification to the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008.

I will continue to reflect on matters raised at Committee in advance of the Stage 1 Debate. Should members of the Committee wish to discuss the Bill either before the Stage 1 Debate or ahead of Stage 2 Committee deliberations, I am happy to do so.

Yours sincerely,

John Swinney

Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for COVID Recovery,

Scottish Government
