Renewables Obligation (Scotland) Amendment Order 2018 [draft]

  1. The Committee took evidence on the Renewables Obligation (Scotland) Amendment Order 2018 [draft] from Paul Wheelhouse, Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands at its meeting on 30 October 2018. The Official Report is available on the Committee's website.

  1. This Order amends the Renewables Obligation (Scotland) Order 2009 to lift a restriction on the amount of electricity which can be produced by hydro generating stations without affecting eligibilty for Scottish Renewable Obligation Certificates (SROCs). Any additional electricity which will be generated as a result of this amendment is not eligible for SROCs.

  1. The Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee considered the instrument at its meeting on 18 September and had no issues to report.

  1. Following evidence, the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands moved motion S5M-14103—

    That the Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee recommends that the Renewables Obligation (Scotland) Amendment Order 2018 [draft] be approved.

  1. The motion was agreed to without debate or dissent.
