The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on 3 June 2009 and became an Act on 8 July 2009

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
