Parliament dissolved ahead of election

The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Bill

The Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 30 January 2008 [Session 3]

This was a Government Bill. Government Bills before September 2012 were known as Executive Bills.



Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on 25 September 2008 and became an Act on 29 October 2008

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
