Parliament dissolved ahead of election

The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Convention Rights Proceedings (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill

The Convention Rights Proceedings (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 15 June 2009 [Session 3]

This was a Government Bill. Government Bills before September 2012 were known as Executive Bills.



Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on 18 June 2009 and became an Act on 23 July 2009

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
