The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

The Custodial Sentences and Weapons (Scotland) Bill was introduced on Monday, October 2, 2006 [Session 2]

This was a Government Bill. Government Bills before September 2012 were known as Executive Bills.



Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on Thursday, March 15, 2007 and became an Act on Thursday, April 19, 2007

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
