The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Bill

The Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 8 October 1999 [Session 1]

This was a Government Bill. Government Bills before September 2012 were known as Executive Bills.


Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on 29 March 2000 and became an Act on 9 May 2000

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
