The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Apologies (Scotland) Bill

The Apologies (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 3 March 2015 [Session 4]

This was a Member's Bill introduced by Margaret Mitchell



Bill becomes an Act

The Bill was passed on 19 January 2016 and became an Act on 23 February 2016

If the Bill is passed by MSPs, it can then get Royal Assent and become an Act.
