At present, the deadline for answering written questions that are lodged in the second week before the summer recess falls in the first week of the parliamentary recess, when many Executive staff are on leave.
The broad intention is to hear evidence before the summer recess. If we have the consultation phase and take evidence before the recess, we will have a stage 1 report available at the end of the recess, which will allow us to move to a stage 1 debate very soon after the recess.
We have a lot of items to squeeze in before the recess, and I suspect that people will not want to meet during the recess—although that would not particularly bother me.
We do not have much time between then and the end of the first week in July, when we go into recess. Presumably, we are talking about an inquiry that would last until the end of the year—probably until next Easter.
We want the Minister for Finance to appear before us at an early stage, although I am not sure whether that will be possible before we break for the recess or whether it should happen at the meeting during the summer recess.
