Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on recent First Tier (Property Chamber) rulings in England in which buildings affected by combustible façade material deemed “tolerable” following assessments using PAS 9980 were subsequently found to be unsafe and require remediation, and what implications it considers these rulings might have for Scotland.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the findings of the Scottish Land Commission report, Tax and the Reuse of Scotland's Long-Term Derelict Land, how many of the 466 long-term derelict urban sites identified in the report have received support through the Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme; how much funding has been allocated to those sites, and how many have subsequently been brought back into productive use.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the findings of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry report, for what reason BS 8414 continues to form part of both domestic and non-domestic technical handbooks in Scotland, and whether it considers that removing this from the handbooks would provide greater clarity and certainty for those involved in the design, construction and control of buildings.
