Celebrating the Success and Community Impact of Girish’s Premier Store in Barmulloch

That the Parliament congratulates Girish’s Premier Store in Barmulloch on being named Best Independent Store of the Year across the UK; recognises what it sees as the store’s outstanding contribution to the local community since its reopening in 2022 following a full refurbishment; acknowledges the commitment of owner, Girish Jeeva, to supporting the people of Barmulloch through generous donations to local charities and schools, as well as initiatives such as weekly giveaways and affordable food deals; welcomes the store’s decision to fund the community Christmas tree in 2024 after, it understands, the council withdrew funding, and commends the store's team for organising a festive event with Santa and Mrs Claus for local families; applauds the store’s decision to remain open on Christmas Day, providing a vital service to the community; notes the introduction of Scotland’s first 24-hour delivery service through Snappy Shopper, which it believes has been an overwhelming success, and supports the benefits that this service brings to night-shift and key workers; acknowledges the store’s innovative use of AI technology to deter shoplifters, reducing thefts significantly and ensuring a safer environment for staff and customers; recognises the vital role that independent businesses like Girish’s Premier Store play in fostering strong and resilient communities, and wishes Girish and his team continued success in their efforts to serve and support the people of Barmulloch.
