  • Motion reference: S6M-14737

That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) on arranging a successful visit by its Patron, Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, to Solsgirth Home Farm in Dollar; understands that HRH the Princess Anne met over 350 school pupils, with accompanying adults, who were learning all about food and farming at the Clackmannanshire farm, gaining first-hand experience and insight into RHET’s mission and especially of the vital role that farmers play; acknowledges that the event served to showcase the work being carried out by the charity for eight to 11-year-olds from across Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Perth and Kinross; welcomes that pupils were able to perform tasks across stations at the farm, learning many skills, including pressing apples and making smoothies; commends RHET, and its chair, Hugh McClymont, for arranging what it sees as this highly worthwhile visit for the educational benefit of the children in attendance; further commends everyone at Solsgirth Home Farm for hosting this event, and congratulates everyone involved, including the local project coordinators as well as the excellent support by the volunteers, who all share their passion for farming and for running these and similar sessions.
