Glenarn Gardens of Rhu Win Six Awards at the Scottish National Rhododendron Show

That the Parliament congratulates Sue and Mike Thornley, owners of Glenarn Gardens in Rhu, on winning six awards at the Scottish National Rhododendron Show, including the Sir John Stirling Maxwell Cup for the best species of rhododendron; notes that the show returned after a three-year hiatus and took place in Garelochhead with competitors from all over Scotland and northern England taking part; commends rhododendron experts, David Chamberlain from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Richard Baines, curator of Logan Botanic Garden, for judging 500 entries in 56 classes; acknowledges what it sees as the hard work and delicate care that goes into maintaining these species of plant, and notes the importance of preserving these gardens and plants for future generations to enjoy.
