Moray Emergency Relief Fund Raises Over £200,000

  • Submitted by: Jamie Halcro Johnston, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 16 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23726

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Moray Emergency Relief Fund (MERF) has raised over £200,000 since April 2020; understands that this vital fund was set up by the Lord Lieutenants of Moray and Banffshire to counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on local businesses and residents, many of whom have found themselves in real hardship this year; notes that £5,000 will be donated by the fund to the Moray School Bank, which provides extra clothing for pupils, and thanks all the organisers, volunteers and those across Moray who have supported the fund.
