That the Parliament congratulates Pentland Ferries on becoming the first ferry operator in the UK to receive a Green Tourism Award; understands that the award recognises the commitment of tourism businesses toward becoming more sustainable and actively reducing their carbon footprint, and that it is internationally recognised as an indicator of good environmentally-friendly practice; acknowledges that Pentland Ferries has been presented with a bronze level award in recognition of its excellent environmental awareness and credentials, including its use of local food suppliers, introduction of waste reducing and recycling initiatives and use of low-energy lighting on its ferries; further acknowledges the greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions levels achieved by Pentland Ferries’ new purpose-built vessel, MV Alfred; congratulates the Managing Director, Andrew Banks, and all of the team at Pentland Ferries, on their efforts in achieving this impressive recognition, and wishes them all the very best for the future as they look to secure a silver award.
