That the Parliament congratulates 14-year-old Becky Munley on being named Inverclyde’s Young Person of the Year in recognition of her role as a young carer; understands that Becky looks after her mum who experiences epileptic seizures almost every day, as well as supporting her 17-year-old brother who requires round-the-clock care; recognises that Becky, who attends St Columba’s High School in Gourock, was nominated for the accolade by the young carers group that she attends, winning the Young Carer of the Year award at the Legacy Awards and then at the end of the night being announced as the overall winner; understands that Becky is a star pupil at school and dreams of becoming a paramedic or joining the police; believes that she, and other young carers in Scotland, are an inspiration to others and thanks them for so diligently carrying out caring duties for their family members, and considers that the Young Carers Grant will enable young people like Becky to enjoy a release from their caring responsibilities.
