That the Parliament congratulates Whinhill Primary School pupils on receiving a string of awards at the Royal National Mod in Glasgow, which is a celebration of Gaelic music and song; recognises that P6 pupil, Tiami Doherty, performed a song and poem in Gaelic and won a silver award for her efforts; considers that this medal is all the more impressive as Tiami is not in formal Gaelic education and only learns the language once a week; notes that P3 pupil, Tamzin Watterott, was also successful in the poetry category, receiving a bronze medal; understands that this was the first time in 29 years that the event was held in Glasgow, offering the Greenock-based pupils and staff the chance to take part, and is pleased to note that all 11 pupils who attended coped well with the daunting process of performing in front of judges; commends Mr MacPhee, who teaches Gaelic at the school, for also taking part in two competitions, finishing a close second in the traditional singing category, despite having never competed before; appreciates that 2019 is the 20th year of Gaelic education in Inverclyde and believes that the success of the Whinhill Primary School pupils and Mr MacPhee shows that Gaelic education is still going from strength to strength in the community, and wishes everyone at the school every success for the future.
