That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Distillery on winning the prestigious Scottish Gin Destination of the Year award at the Scottish Gin Awards in Glasgow; notes that the Scottish Gin Awards were founded in 2016 to recognise innovation and excellence in gin distilling in Scotland; understands that Orkney Distillery was also presented with a silver medal in the Navy Strength category for its Arkh-Angell "Storm Strength" gin, which is the second consecutive year that the well-known gin has been recognised; further understands that these accolades round off a successful 2019 for Orkney Distillery, which has seen it being presented with its five-star status by VisitScotland earlier in the year; acknowledges that the distillery and visitor centre only opened in July 2018 but in that time it has developed and launched four new gins and hosted many events and tours for the public; pays tribute to the staff at Orkney Distillery who it considers have worked incredibly hard to make it a popular venue for the local community and visitors to Orkney, recognising that these awards are testament to their outstanding efforts and commitment, and wishes the distillery all the best for another successful year ahead.
