That the Parliament commends Dumfries House Trust, which has offered to provide four free swimming lessons to every pupil at New Cumnock Primary School; understands that, when a funding application fell through, the trust, which restored and now operates from the Tamar Manoukian New Cumnock Swimming Pool, stepped in to ensure that the primary’s 203 pupils had the opportunity to learn to swim; considers that having the opportunity to learn to swim at a young age can be highly beneficial for physical and mental wellbeing throughout a person’s life; welcomes the commitment of Dumfries House Trust and its team at New Cumnock Pool to widen access to opportunities that are aimed at encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle, and notes the hope that others across Scotland will recognise its work.
