Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer Unite to Form New Charity

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 20 December 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-09711

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the two charities, Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer, are joining together to form a new charity, which it understands will become the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity; notes that Deborah Alsina MBE has been appointed as the CEO of the new charity and a new name and brand will be unveiled later in 2018; notes that bowel cancer remains the UK’s second biggest cancer killer and that the disease is preventable, treatable and curable; believes that the integration of the charities’ activity, teams, networks and support bases will create a stronger and even more effective organisation, and wishes the new charity every success in 2018 and beyond as it aims to transform bowel cancer survival rates and achieve a world where no-one dies of bowel cancer.
