RBS Branch Closures in Bonnyrigg and Linlithgow

  • Submitted by: Jeremy Balfour, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 December 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-09375

That the Parliament is concerned by the recent announcement by RBS to close its Bonnyrigg and Linlithgow branches as part of a massive restructuring that will see one-in-four branches close permanently, with a total of 62 closures across Scotland; notes that the Bonnyrigg branch is set to close on 24 May 2018 and the Linlithgow branch on 27 June; recognises the impact that it believes these closures will have on the communities, especially among older people and people with limited mobility access, along with the potential for redundancies for RBS branch staff, and notes that Jeremy Balfour MSP has asked RBS for a meeting to explain these closures and the impact that they will have on both communities.
