That the Parliament commends a branch of the Sauchie Community Group Choir, the Thank You for the Music singers, on being recognised for bringing entertainment, music and joy to people living with dementia; understands that the members of the choir have been sharing their talents and spreading happiness through their work with Beechwood Park and Hillview Court care homes; understands they were presented with a certificate from the writer and broadcaster, Sally Magnusson, at an event at Dunblane Cathedral that was attended by more than 200 people; notes that the choir does not sing at the resident, but rather sings with them; notes that it was formed after a collaboration between the Sauchie Community Group Choir and Bonnie McDowell from the Church of Scotland, which saw them get together to take the singers to care homes every week to sing old time favourites to residents; considers that music is said to have a positive impact on people living with dementia due to its ability to access different parts of the brain and its ability to trigger happy memories; acknowledges that Sally Magnusson founded Playlist for Life, which is a dementia charity that aims to helps people through music and offers practical support to help those wishing to reconnect through old songs, and understands that there is even a section on Playlist for Life's website where families who are struggling for money can request an MP3 player, and sends its best wishes to all involved with this worthwhile work.
