That the Parliament acknowledges the partnership between North and South Lanarkshire councils in order to deliver the “biggest and best” fireworks display in Scotland held on 5 November 2017 at Strathclyde Country Park; notes that Lanarkshire’s fireworks display was a free entry display and that local people could enjoy a funfair by M and D’s Leisure Ltd as well as live music hosted by Clyde 1; understands that this year the Lanarkshire display had a special guest in the form of Bonnie the seal, who is the official mascot for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships; believes that the fireworks display at Strathclyde Country Park serves as yet another reminder of the ability of Lanarkshire to host large-scale public events, as has been demonstrated previously by the role it played in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and indeed the role it will play with the European Championships in 2018; congratulates all involved in delivering yet another safe and successful event, in particular the emergency services and North and South Lanarkshire councils, and wishes them well for future success with large-scale public events such as this.
