  • Date lodged: Friday, 29 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-08029

That the Parliament congratulates St Peter the Apostle High School pupils on receiving a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services for the running of their soup kitchen volunteer project; notes that the Lord Lieutenant for Dunbartonshire, Michael Gregory OBE, presented the medal to John Sangster, principal teacher for pupil support, and pupils in a ceremony in Clydebank Town Hall; welcomes that the pupils collected donations of food, toiletries and clothes to assist The Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity based in Glasgow, and have spent time at the Bellgrove and Salvation Army hostels distributing hot soup, food, toiletries and clothes to the men who live there, and also took the time to talk to residents; believes that it is positive for West Dunbartonshire Council to have a school under its authority that is praised so highly, and notes that the school has been running the project since 2013, has received a Provost Civic Award and was the runner-up for the Young Scot Award in 2015.
