Scottish Government's Social Security Agency Provides 750 New Jobs for Glasgow

  • Submitted by: Sandra White, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07759

That the Parliament acknowledges the news that the Scottish Government's new Social Security Agency will bring 750 new jobs to Glasgow; considers that this will help support the city's economy by bringing skilled and secure jobs, supporting people into work and boosting the economy; believes that the Scottish Government's efforts to build a social security system with dignity and respect at its heart is in stark contrast to what it sees as the punitive welfare regime operated by the UK Government, and considers that this announcement will provide relief to people in Scotland facing the prospect of job losses in light of the UK Government's reported plans to reduce its number of tax and benefit staff and departments.
