That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow City Council on its Every Child a Library Member project, which, since its inception in 2015, has seen almost 8,000 babies enrolled into the scheme; supports the view of UNESCO that reading for pleasure is more important than social class in determining economic and academic success; encourages parents to sign up their child to be a library member with the city when they register the birth; urges parents to register older siblings to join over 600 children who have already been registered through the city’s registrars to date, and wishes the scheme further success in the future.
