Tillicoultry Man Organises Inaugural Charity Golf Day for Combat Stress

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07551

That the Parliament wishes the best of luck to a Tillicoultry man who has organised a fundraiser for the charity, Combat Stress, as a thank you for providing him with a lifeline; believes that Chris Paterson sought the help of the charity when a scaffolding accident triggered his post-traumatic stress disorder; notes that he has credited the work of the veterans' mental health charity for keeping him going, insisting he "wouldn't be here" without its support; further notes that the 42-year-old, who joined the army at age 16, is determined to raise money for the cause and has drawn on his hobby in order to do so; understands that his inaugural charity golf day will be at Tillicoultry Golf Club and has already received a wealth of support from members of the public and sponsors, and acknowledges that 60 golfers have already signed up to play and that, although Chris can't accept any more, people are welcome to come along on the day.
