That the Parliament congratulates two Orkney-based gin distilleries on being shortlisted for the 2017 Scottish Gin Awards; notes that Orkney Distilling Ltd has been nominated in two categories, Distilled Gin of the Year and Excellence in Marketing, and that the Orkney Gin Company is up for the Speciality Gin of the Year award; understands that the awards, which are sponsored by the Scottish Gin Society, cover both taste and business performance and that the nominees were judged earlier by a highly experienced judging panel, consisting of some of the country's foremost gin and distilling experts; believes that the shortlisting of the two distilleries is a testament to the dedication of their staff and a recognition of Orkney's high-end food and drinks sector, and wishes the nominees well when the winners are announced at the awards dinner and celebration on 14 September in Glasgow.
