  • Submitted by: Bruce Crawford, Stirling, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 14 June 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-06100

That the Parliament congratulates Riverside Primary School in Stirling on winning the Big School and Community Partnership Reading Journey prize at the First Minister’s Reading Challenge awards in recognition of it involving the community in establishing a new school library; believes that this resulted in positive collaboration between the pupils, their families and members of the community; acknowledges that this partnership was successful thanks to the pupils’ creative ideas and the hard work of all staff, the parent council and the area's librarians; considers that the challenge has been hugely successful in encouraging young people to get passionate about reading, and looks forward to the initiative being run again in 2017-18.
