Edinburgh Evening News 2017 Local Hero Awards

That the Parliament congratulates the winners of the 2017 Edinburgh Evening News Local Hero Awards; notes that the Olympic double-medallist Callum Skinner, who is from Bruntsfield, was named as the overall Local Hero, Donald McIntosh was the 999 Hero, Jodie Craig won the Bravery Award, Iona Imrie was named as the Carer of the Year, Cody McManus won the Child of Achievement award, Scott Glynn was the Community Champion, Pamela Neilson was awarded the Fundraiser of the Year title, Julie Nisbet was named as the Health Champion, Josh Manson won the Inspirational Young Adult award, Peter Walker was awarded the Neighbour of the Year title, David Gray won the Sporting Achievement award, Alan Grant won the prize for Contribution to Local Sport, Lorraine Hill was the Teacher of the Year and Brunstane Primary School won the School of the Year prize; considers that these awards to be richly deserved as the winners have all made a positive contribution to society; commends the newspaper on organising the awards, the headline sponsor, Farmer Autocare, and the event partner, Central Taxis; believes that the occasion has helped showcase the achievements, dedication and selfless charity work of people in the Lothian region, and wishes all of the winners and nominees continued success.
