Congratulations to Chelsea Cameron on Young Scot Awards Success

  • Submitted by: Bill Bowman, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 03 May 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-05438

That the Parliament congratulates Dundee resident, Chelsea Cameron, on being crowned the overall winner at the 2017 Young Scot Awards; further congratulates Chelsea on winning the Young Hero Award; understands that her nomination highlights the story of how, as a teenager, she penned a heart-breaking, open letter to her parents regarding their behaviour and how she had learnt not to repeat the mistakes that they had made; notes that the blog post, which went viral, explained how she had to cope with serious family problems from a young age but, instead of blaming them, thanked them for providing an example of how not to live; acknowledges her achievements, including becoming Head Girl at Menzieshill High School in Dundee and the charity work that she carried out in Uganda, and wishes Chelsea every success for the future.
