That the Parliament recognises the Air Cadets and staff of 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron in their adoption of the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund as their charity of the year; understands that Fife’s Captain Seath was competing in the 2016 London Marathon to raise funds for Help For Heroes when he collapsed just three miles short of the finish line after experiencing a cardiac arrest, and sadly passed away later that day aged just 31; believes that, as an Air Cadet serving with 1145 (Dunfermline) Squadron, Captain Seath worked his way up to Cadet Sergeant, amassed a collection of awards and accolades, was an inspiration to his peers and made a huge impact on those who met him; notes that, as he was a former squadron member before attending Sandhurst Military Academy and serving as an Officer of the 19th Regiment Royal Artillery, as well as 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery in Afghanistan and the Middle East, the current crop of cadets felt it would be a fitting tribute to commence fundraising in his memory; understands that, along with sponsored runs, a sale of baking, collections and a race night, with cadets working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards having roles in the organisation of events, they have also organised a 5km run and walk on the same day that a team will run the London Marathon 2017, all in Captain Seath’s memory, and notes that national fundraising events have so far raised almost £250,000 for the cause.
