Sunnyside Primary School in Alloa Receives Two Coveted Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Sunnyside Primary School, in Alloa, on its receipt of two coveted awards, the UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award and the Gold Sports Award; believes the awards as recognition of the school’s dedication to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued; understands that the UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award is the highest level of recognition for schools, which put children’s rights at the heart of everything it does, following the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; notes that the Gold Sports Award highlights the school’s focus on health, teamwork and active living; commends Sunnyside pupils on taking a leading role in promoting values such as respect, fairness and kindness, both in the school and in the wider community; believes that, through after-school clubs and inter-school competitions, pupils are encouraged to participate in sports, support one another and take pride in their achievements; acknowledges that the pupils have worked hard to make their school a kind and healthy place, believing also that sport helps build not only physical strength but also confidence, resilience and friendship, considers that the school’s staff, pupils and parents have also displayed dedication and teamwork in what it sees as their tireless endeavours for the good of the school; believes that these awards reflect years of dedication to ensure that children’s voices are heard and their achievements celebrated, and wishes everyone at the school all the very best in their future ambitions.
