Jude Callister to Retire from Scapa Flow Museum After 20 Years

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 19 September 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-18977

That the Parliament pays tribute to Jude Callister on her retirement after 20 years working at the Scapa Flow Museum in Lyness, Orkney; understands that Jude began working at the museum in 2005 as an assistant custodian, before becoming a visitor services officer in 2009; acknowledges that, following the museum’s redevelopment in 2022, Jude was the only staff member who had witnessed the project in its entirety, from beginning to end; believes that Jude’s wealth of knowledge and unstinting commitment to the museum over the last two decades has had a really positive impact on the running of the museum as well as on the experience of those visiting, whether from Orkney or all around the world; thanks Jude for her years of service, and wishes her all the best in her well-earned retirement.
