  • Motion reference: S6M-18925

That the Parliament welcomes YMCA Tayside’s Bears Big Adventure Trail, which will feature 30 painted statues at locations across the Perth and Kinross region; notes that there will also be 30 bear cubs with local artists, schools, community groups and businesses taking part to transform the bare bears into unique works of art next summer; understands that the 10-week trail aims to increase visitors to the area and will also raise funds to support YMCA Tayside’s work with local young people; believes that the organisation provides a range of vital services from mental health support to skills development at its Y Centre, in the former St Andrew’s and St Stephen’s buildings in Atholl Street in Perth, providing a safe space for around 2,000 Perth youngsters; understands that the bear sculptures will be auctioned off and that local businesses and organisations are being invited to sponsor a bear, support the artists, or contribute to community events along with the inclusion of a learning programme for local schools; is very grateful to everyone involved in the project for all their hard work, and extends its very best wishes for the success of the project.
