That the Parliament congratulates the Stranraer Water Sports Association (SWSA) for what it sees as its outstanding contribution to promoting water sports and tourism in Dumfries and Galloway; welcomes the successful hosting of SkiffieWorlds 2025, the World Championship of the St Ayles Class of coastal rowing, which was held on Loch Ryan in July and brought together 79 clubs and competitors from across the globe for a week of competitive racing and vibrant community festivities; commends SWSA for supporting the Scottish Fin and Foil Championships 2025, which were held in August and showcased cutting-edge wind sports, including IQFOIL, Wing Foil and WASZP hydrofoil sailboats; understands that these attracted up to 100 competitors and offered taster sessions for residents; recognises the role of these events in enhancing Stranraer’s reputation as a premier destination for water-based recreation and sport, and calls on the Scottish Government to continue supporting community-led initiatives that promote active lifestyles, environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism in coastal regions.
