That the Parliament extends its best wishes to Aleksei Solovjov and Stuart Grubb, both from Dunfermline, Fife, as they represent Stagecoach East Scotland in the upcoming UK Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) 2025 final in Blackpool on 14 September; understands that the competition, now in its 57th year, is regarded as the ultimate test for professional bus drivers; is immensely proud of Aleksei and Stuart, who will be expected to undertake a two-mile driving challenge along Blackpool’s north promenade, complete tight manoeuvres, demonstrate accurate speed and distance judgement, and apply advanced roadcraft under pressure, all in customer service, safety, and technical skill categories, as well as a written exam covering the highway code and the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) as part of the final; recognises that both drivers secured their places in the final through success in tough local heats, demonstrating outstanding driving ability and a commitment to delivering safe and reliable journeys; notes that winners of the competition will receive trophies and cash prizes, with additional awards sponsored by leading bus manufacturers and industry suppliers, and extends its very best well wishes to both Aleksei and Stuart for good luck in the finals.
