That the Parliament notes that Rock the Rovers, the much-loved music fundraising event that first began in Kirkcaldy in August 2005 as part of the “Reclaim the Rovers” campaign, is marking its 20th anniversary in 2025; recognises what it considers to be the unwavering commitment of the event’s organisers, most notably Marsha Tarvett, who first proposed the idea, and current organiser, Gavin Quinn; celebrates the fact that since inception, the event has raised thousands of pounds for Raith Rovers FC and a host of local charities, acting as a shining example of community spirit and solidarity; welcomes this year’s return of Rock the Rovers on 24 August 2025, at Styx on Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy, featuring 10 live acts, including Velour Armour, Gav Patrick, Andy Chung, State of Emergency, Slipstream, Columbo’s Soul Band, Steph, The Diversions, Buick 55’s, and Charles Wood and Albo; notes in particular the charities that are due to benefit in 2025, which are CHAS Rachel House, Clued Up Project, Cerebral Palsy Scotland, and the Raith Rovers Former Players Association, and those who continue to benefit annually; recognises the resilience and continuity of the organisers and the event, which has now been held 18 times; commends every musician, volunteer, sponsor, supporter, and fan whose extraordinary efforts over the last 20 years have enabled this event to become a beloved fixture in Fife’s calendar of events, and encourages the continued celebration of this exceptional fusion of music and football for many years to come.
