That the Parliament is enthused by a recent first aid drop-in session at Sauchie Hall, Mar Place, Alloa, with more than 50 local parents and children taking part in a fun event that was designed to build confidence regarding basic first aid; understands that the session was run by Mums the Word, which is a community group dedicated to supporting families across Clackmannanshire; believes that the event was held with the support of Active8, which is a charity run in Clackmannanshire by volunteers to address the health and wellbeing needs of residents, both young and old; understands that the event was held in a relaxed and playful environment, where families could learn together in a way that felt safe and friendly; considers that, alongside special guests from Saline First Responders who led the interactive demonstrations on CPR and how to respond to choking, this event was said to very much help to inform parents, many of whom said that they often felt too anxious to attend formal first aid courses; notes that the children took part in a range of themed activities, including the bandaging of teddies, dressing up as medical professionals, coaching on how to “wash away the germs” and even a Peppa Pig 999 call station; believes that these creative activities helped to introduce important life skills in a way that was easily understood by the children; acknowledges that the event was part of Mums the Word’s ongoing series of free weekly drop-in sessions, which are held every Monday from 9:30 to 11:30am at Sauchie Hall; believes that the charity aims to continue to grow as a trusted group in Clackmannanshire in which families can feel supported, meet others and know that they are not alone; commends everyone involved, and wishes Mums the Word, Active8, Saline First Responders and all of the parents and children, continued success with their events.
