That the Parliament congratulates the Sir Walter Scott Trust on the 125th anniversary of the steamship’s first sail on Loch Katrine and the launch of the new edition of its souvenir guide; further congratulates the Trust on receiving the award, Flagship of the Year, from Historic Ships UK; understands that this award is in recognition of the outstanding work carried out by the dedicated trustees and staff responsible for preserving the Sir Walter Scott; further understands that the Trust had been custodian of the steamship since 2005, aiming to ensure its preservation and operation for the enjoyment of over one million visitors; notes the Dumbarton connection to the Sir Walter Scott, which was built by the steam engine manufacturer, Matthew Paul, and sub-contracted to William Denny Bros. Ltd; recognises that the skills and work of those Dumbarton shipbuilders in 1899 have contributed to the longevity of the steamship; wishes the staff and trustees well for the future, and looks forward to many more years of sailing ahead.
