  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 September 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18418

That the Parliament acknowledges Emergency Services Day on 9 September 2025; understands that the day is also known as 999 Day and is a chance to support the heroic men and women of the NHS and emergency services; notes that the hashtag, #999Day, promotes the work of the emergency services, encourages using the emergency services responsibly, educates the public about basic lifesaving skills, and promotes the many career and volunteering opportunities that are available; believes that volunteers are an essential part of the emergency services "family" and that they play an important role in keeping people safe; acknowledges that 999 volunteer roles include special constables, retained firefighters, NHS community responders, and roles with St John Ambulance, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and HM Coastguard search and rescue, and thanks everyone working in the emergency services who go above and beyond every day to help save lives and keep people safe.
